Description:
ITT Educational Services, Inc. is a leading private college system focused on technology-oriented programs of study. It operates over 78 ITT Technical Institutes in 30 states which predominantly provide career-focused, degree programs to approximately 40,000 students. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, it has been actively involved in the higher education community in the United States since 1969.

Curriculum offerings, leading primarily to associate's and bachelor's degrees, are designed to help students begin to prepare for career opportunities in various fields involving technology, including electronics, computer network systems, computer drafting and design, multimedia, software applications and programming, industrial design, computer visualization, business, criminal justice and other areas. Programs of study vary among the ITT Technical Institutes.

Most ITT Technical Institute programs of study blend traditional academic content with applied learning concepts, with a significant portion devoted to practical study in a lab environment.

In 2001 ITT Tech introduced its first on-line education initiative, a program in Technical Project Management for Electronic Commerce, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Advisory committees, comprised of representatives of local businesses and employers, help each ITT Technical Institute periodically assess and update curricula, equipment and laboratory design.

According to U.S. Department of Education data, all of the ITT Technical Institutes combined granted the largest percentage (12.9 percent) of the total number of associate's and bachelor's degrees awarded in the U.S. in electronics and electronics-related programs in the 1996-1997 school year (the latest year for which statistics are available). All of the ITT Technical Institutes combined also granted the largest share (20.5 percent) of the total number of associate's and bachelor's degrees awarded in the U.S. in drafting programs during the same period.

Students attend classes year-round with convenient breaks provided throughout the year. Classes are typically available in the morning, afternoon and evening, depending on student enrollment. This class schedule offers students flexibility to pursue part-time employment opportunities.
